Learning how to instruct Suspension exercises is a key addition to the Fitness Professional toolbox. This unique piece of kit is versatile, portable, and provides variety for your clients.

Course Overview

SuspensionTraining is arguablyone the most versatile and portable equipment that a FITPRO could own.

Being portable means that you could train your clients in a park, a gym, their home, your garden, a sports hall, or a studio.

Meaning you can train clients anywhere and be confident it's an effective approach to reach their goals.

Ultimately suspension training is more than just a series of exercises. On the course, you'll learn how to:

Integrate suspension exercises into your existing client plans

Plan group based suspension classes

Progress a suspension workout across multiple weeks

and more so... how to confidently perform each suspension exercise yourself and coach a client to optimal performance.

The course is 90% practical meaning you get to hone your technique and get valuable feedback from your tutors and others on the course

This one-day course is delivered face-to-face in our Milton Keynes Academy.

You will complete a short session plan on the day and all practical workshops are assessed throughout.

Therefore, you have no pre-course work to complete. The attendance day is all about building your coaching and confidence using the Suspension Training kit.

Upon enrollment, you'll be allocated a tutor who will reach out immediately to introduce and orientate you with your course.

There is easy access via main road routes and free parking on site. Also, the main central train station is just 5-mins walk away from our Parallel Coaching Milton Keynes Academy.

Entry Requirements

To complete this course, you must already hold a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification or equivalent. This could be Level 2 exercise to music, aqua, or level 3 Yoga and Pilates.

If you don’t already have this, you can complete it alongside this qualification with our ''Level 2 Gym Instructor course'. Many of our learners complete the Level 2 Gym Instructor and Level 2 Circuits Course as a bundle package.

It's good to have a reasonable amount of experience in fitness. That could be in a gym, studio, home, or Bootcamp setting. You certainly don’t need to be an expert, although once you graduate as a Level 1 Suspension Training instructor you'll be an expert.

How to plan a Suspension Training sessions

It might seem straight forwards to plan a Suspension Training session... after all, it's just a series of exercises using a strap or TRX? Or is it.

You'll learn the intricacies of planning a kettlebell session, including:

✔ Exercise order
✔ Timings and intensities
✔ Planning for specific goals
✔ Adaptations and Progressions
✔ Warm Ups and Cool Downs
✔ Suspension Training specific mobility exercises
✔ Movement preparation and neuromuscular activation

How to progress a Suspension Training sessions

A Suspension Training session can be progressed in many ways, it is not just about changing the exercises on every session.

During the course, you'll learn how to logically progress a Suspension Training session, which includes finding the BEST intensity for your client.

By the end of the course, you'll feel confident in being able to manage 121 and multiple clients, each working at different intensities to suit their own goals and needs.

You'll also learn how a Suspension Training session can be used for all components of fitness, including resistance, cardiovascular, flexibility, sport-specific, and motor skills.

Planning Suspension Training for different environments

Suspension Training is arguably the most versatile and portable equipment that a FITPRO could own.

Being portable means that you could train your clients in a park, a gym, their home, your garden, a sports hall, or a studio.

Each environment comes with its own risks and during the course, you learn how to mitigate each risk to ensure each kettlebell session is safe and effective.

How to deliver a Suspension Training sessions

The versatility of Suspension Training means that you can deliver one-to-one sessions or in groups. Each requires a different set of instructing skills.

On the course, you'll gain the confidence to talk and coach in front of larger groups.

Plus learn the intricacies of voice projection, voice control, and pitch so you don't appear like a Sargent Major in the Army and just shout.

You'll also learn what to say, where to stand and move, how to progress individuals and control each session as a leader.
